Given the sensitive nature of legal work, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of data handling.

Account Information: Name, email address, law firm or organization name, jurisdiction, bar number (if applicable), and billing information.

User-Submitted Content: Case files, legal documents, queries, and any other materials you upload or input into the Service in the course of using our research and analysis tools.

Usage Data: Log data, feature usage patterns, session duration, device and browser information, and IP addresses. This data is collected to improve the Service and is not linked to the substance of your legal work.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the Service, including:

  • Processing your queries and generating research outputs
  • Verifying legal citations and case references
  • Administering your account and processing payments
  • Improving system performance, reliability, and accuracy
  • Communicating with you about the Service, updates, and support

We do not sell your data. We do not use your uploaded case files, legal documents, or queries to train AI models.

4. Third-Party AI Processing

SecondSeat utilizes third-party AI model providers to power its research and analysis capabilities. When you submit a query or upload content, that content may be transmitted to our AI infrastructure providers for processing.

5. Data Retention

User-Submitted Content: We retain your uploaded documents and query history for the duration of your active account so that you may access prior research and work product. Upon account termination or deletion request, user-submitted content will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Account Information: Retained for the duration of your account and for a reasonable period thereafter as required for billing, legal compliance, and dispute resolution.

Usage Data: Retained in anonymized or aggregated form for analytics and service improvement purposes.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest
  • Role-based access controls limiting internal access to user data
  • Regular security assessments and monitoring
  • Secure cloud infrastructure

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for use by licensed legal professionals and is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
